First Church Friday Folk Coffeehouse presents its 8th concert of the 2024-2025 season featuring the Willie J. Lawes Band features at First Church and Parish Dedham 670 High Street, Dedham on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 7:30 pm in the Auditorium. There will be refreshments for purchase. Tickets are $15 and are available online and at the door.  Doors open at 7:00 pm.

The Willie J Laws Band is one of the notable Blues acts of the region with a modern funky style that’s uniquely its own. The band’s sound includes deep Texas roots music, add some funk, and jazz influenced bass patterns, and the influence of various Afro-Caribbean drumbeats, a genre-bending sound tempered with a groove from Motown, Memphis, Muscle Shoals, the Gulf Cost of Texas, and New Orleans. This isn't strictly Blues; much of it is original music with its own sound and tempo. You will enter the Willie J Laws Band musical train, as it travels a varied terrain with its assorted musical sounds. It's an exciting, fast-moving train,and you will most definitely enjoy the ride! Come hear the “The Last Prophet of the Funky Texas Blues.”

First Church and Parish Dedham Unitarian Universalist was first gathered in 1638 and is located in Dedham Center at 670 High Street. Its lively music program includes choir at Sunday services, the Parish Players theater troupe, and First Friday Jazz & Classical Concerts, in addition to our Friday Folk Coffeehouse events.
